2 May, 2020 SAT & SAT Subject Test Canceled
In response to the rapidly evolving situation around the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and guidance from public health organizations, the College Board announced that they have cancelled May 2, 2020 SAT and SAT Subject Tests. This is following the cancellation of many locations for the March 14, 2020 SAT exam just this past weekend. March makeup SAT has also been cancelled. Registered students will receive refunds.
Though it is unfortunate, students should not worry about this cancellation, as it is precautionary measure. As COVID-19 continues to spread exponentially, precautionary measure such as the cancellation of large gatherings, including standardized tests, is the effective way to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
The next exam date is currently scheduled for June 6, 2020. Till now administration of SAT and SAT Subject Tests has not been canceled for June 6. College Board will continue to assess its status.
Students who were appearing in Spring, should take advantage of extra time, they have now to study. Students need to keep on practicing mock tests and maintain plan to take next exam whenever that may be. Students should keep in mind that they have less opportunities now to sit for tests before college application deadlines. So they should not rely on getting perfect scores, but find ways to stand out their college application by involving themselves in non academic activities and following passion.
Students should monitor their emails and the SAT website for updates. They can also monitor College Board’s Instagram or Twitter for updates concerning canceled and rescheduled exam dates.
For students who wish to take admission in Indian universities through DASA scheme, it is becoming stressful. It is because of the fact deadline for college application is 5 June, 2020 but as May SAT Subject Test has been canceled so students will not have score before 5 June. But as reported by DASA Office, Admission Cell, they are aware of this incident and soon they will come up with feasible solution in the favor of students and put it on DASA website. So students should not worry about deadline. They should focus on preparing for SAT Subject Test.
Students are advised not to travel. You can be part of online interactive preparatory courses of Masterclass Space to gear up for next SAT & SAT Subject Test.
